Henrik Sedin, Vancouver and the Swedish national team forward, has announced his disappointment at missing the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games due to injury. Henrik noted that the decision was a difficult one to make but the correct one given the injury.
"I'm disappointed not to be in the right physical condition to be able to represent my country at the Winter Olympic Games," – is quoted Sedin on the NHL's official website. "My health isn't allowing it. This is a difficult decision but ultimately the best for me personally, Team Sweden, and the Vancouver Canucks. I wish my teammates the best and look forward to returning to play."
Sedin missed the last 6 games of the NHL Championship due to rib injuries. The Swede is going to return to the ice only after a break connected with the Games. Confirmation of the athlete who will replace Henrik for Team Sweden will be confirmed in due course.
