American Ted Ligety is the giant slalom Olympic champion in Sochi. The athlete took the lead after the first attempt, while in the second he made several serious errors and only came 14th. Nevertheless, after two attempts, the total time was 2 minutes 45 seconds, which allowed Ligety to win the gold medal.
French representative Steve Missillier took silver (+0.48 seconds), and bronze went to another Frenchman, Alexis Pinturault (+0.64).
