Yesterday on the ice at Adler Arena a new Olympic record was set. Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands was first to cross the finish line in men’s 10,000 m with a time of 12:44.45. He improved the time of the previous record holder, Seung-Hoon Lee of South Korea by 14 seconds. The time of 12:58.55 was recorded by the Korean at the Vancouver Games.
Jorrit Bergsma became the third Dutch speed skater to set a record at the Sochi Olympics. Earlier new records were set in men’s 5000 m and women’s 1500 m by Sven Kramer and Jorien ter Mors.
As of this moment, five Olympic records have been set in Sochi.
