His image was chosen for a promotional campaign for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver featuring images of athletes on new boats built by a ferry company in British Colombia, Canada. The boats departed from Germany and stopped in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle to promote the Games. He was the only luge representative used in the campaign. (luge.ca, 04 Jun 2009)
STOLEN TRAINING MATERIAL
In 2008 he and teammate Ian Cockerline had their computers stolen while training in Whistler, BC, Canada. The computers contained training information that the athletes had used to work on their technique, including notes and videos of training runs at various tracks around the world.
