GeneralSOCHI QUALIFICATION
Having taken up skeleton in 2011, he thought qualifying for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi would be unrealistic. However, as the 2013/14 season progressed, it became apparent that he had a real chance. "I wanted to qualify as I understood that there were chances for that. It was all decided at the World Cup stage in Igls, Austria. If Canada's Jon Montgomery had finished fourth there, he would have gone to the Olympic Winter Games. But he came seventh, so I will compete in Sochi." (team-russia2014.ru, 20 Jan 2014)
