GeneralCOURSE DESIGN
She believes that competing on courses designed specifically for women is essential in terms of helping the sport grow. "Progression comes faster when it is balanced between challenges and boredom. The courses built for women are designed with jump sizes and shapes for women specifically, which gives a bigger number of women a chance to perform at their best ability. That is what pushes the progression faster in my opinion." (transworld.net, 14 Nov 2012)
ONE LIFE CREW
She is part of the One Life Crew, a group of professional snowboarders aiming to spread the philosophy of peace, love and locally grown organic food. In 2012 they went to Argentina, where they organised and built a green house out of plastic bottles that was gifted to a local school community to grow food in. "When I surround myself by people like this, I get inspired to keep growing and learning about how I can help make this world become more future friendly." (mpora.com, 16 Nov 2012)
COMPETITION VS FILMING
When asked whether she preferred competing or filmmaking she said, "The beauty of snowboarding is that I don't feel like I have to choose. Our industry is special in the way it allows riders to flow in and out of different disciplines. Contests are fun because they host an environment that makes me want to progress. Filming has its own charm and I would love to dive more into the culture of backcountry riding." (roxy.com, 13 Sep 2012)
OTHER ACTIVITIES
She is an environmentalist and has worked for a number of non-profit organisations such as Protect Our Winters [POW] and The Keep A Breast Non Toxic Revolution [NTR]. "I am passionate about the environment, and I have changed some of my life habits to become more sustainable for this reason." (kjerstibuaas.com, 31 Jan 2013; roxy.eu, 01 Sep 2012)
