Reason for taking up this sportHe was initially more interested in football, but one day his father bought him a pair of skis and he grew into cross-country skiing. GeneralCHANGE OF FORTUNE
He was not selected for the normal hill/10km at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, but won gold in the large hill/10km event after being named as a late addition to the squad. "It was a bit of a disappointment not to be able to get into the team in the small hill, but also I fully understand why I didn't. I was not performing well enough in the training. But I really pulled myself together in the big hill and fought my way back. For me to win, I think it's a sign of how strong the Norwegian team is." (ONS, 18 Feb 2014)
