GeneralFINANCIAL STRUGGLES
Korean curling has substantial funding from a retail company that runs until the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. However, the team struggled financially before the deal was agreed. "Professional curlers don't reuse the brush pads but we had to wash ours over and over again. One time at an international match, we saw our competitors throw away their brush pads after using them only once. So we picked them out of the trash when no one was watching, washed them and used them in the next game," teammate Shin Mi-Sung said. (reuters.com, 02 Dec 2013)
