She claimed bronze in parallel giant slalom at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, with husband Vic Wild winning gold in the men's event. This was only the second time a husband and wife had won medals in the same event at the Olympic Winter Games. Wild was born in the United States, but gained Russian citizenship in 2012 after becoming frustrated with what he perceived as a lack of support. "It's the first time we are the winners together. He has had the most incredible journey. He deserves it more than anyone," Zavarzina said. (bloomberg.com, 19 Feb 2014; nbcsports.com, 19 Feb 2014)
