Wild was born in the United States, but gained Russian citizenship in 2012 after becoming frustrated with what he perceived as a lack of support. "It's the first time we are the winners together. He has had the most incredible journey. He deserves it more than anyone," Zavarzina said. (bloomberg.com, 19 Feb 2014; nbcsports.com, 19 Feb 2014)
