GeneralHISTORIC MEDAL
His gold medal in the super G event at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria was the first ever gold medal won by an African nation at an Olympic event. "I wanted to prove that Moroccans can ski well, and I proved it." (olympic.org, 23 May 2013)
DUAL NATIONALITY
He was born to a Moroccan father and a Canadian mother, and has dual citizenship in both countries. His father, a university professor, moved to Canada several years before his birth. The family still keeps a home in Morocco. "I was born in Quebec and I grew up there, and I went through the Skibec alpine system. I'm just like any other kid from Charlesbourg.
